It’s an all out war lately between Microsoft and Apple. Honestly, I’m getting tired of the “I’m a Mac. I’m a PC” campaign. As long as the operating system works and performs well, …

Rumors on Next LG Voyager Firmware Update (v10)

The LG Voyager has probably received more updates than any other Verizon phone, which is great news to me since I own this particular model. It has been reported that LG and Verizon will roll out the next firmware update (v10) somewhere around August. It will include support for visual voicemail, drag and drop icons, copy and paste and a drawing pad.

It is also being reported that new customers that purchase the phone may see a slight physical difference to the phone as well as a new USB wall charger. Unfortunately current owners won’t be able to trade in their old phone for a new one, but they can upgrade the firmware for free by bringing it into the Verizon store.

Hopefully, there will be other features added in the v10 update. Some of the things I would love to see are:

  • The ability to add notepad to the shortcut icon list so I don’t have to drill down so far to access it.
  • I would love to see a full screen picture of who is calling me (similar to the iPhone) instead of the small icon photo they currently allow.
  • The ability to multitask between playing music and something else (ie. texting, surfing the net, etc). Right now when you play a song and you decide to do anything else, the song stops playing and you have to restart it again which can be very annoying

This probably won’t happen as many people have been asking for these features ever since the first firmware upgrade, but I guess we shall see when August rolls around. On a sidenote, I’m not sure why the firmware will be called v10 because they followed the number convention from the firmware history it should really be v11 (v03, v05, v09, v011).

who cares about that now! verizon disabled bitpim on the voyager verizon 9! that means no more custom content ant backups. that means being forced to rebuy a video game if it crashes! that means not being able to back up your info and settings! im going to leave verizon next month!! verizon is not a good enough carrier to keep be on board without bitpim. i want at least some control over my phone. with bitpim gone its like im a baby again!

Try using the new bitpm and manually set the phone for the LG Dare, it works fine.

I don’t see Verizon changing their business model anytime soon. They’re a business and will try and get as much money out of their customers as possible but I do admit that it would be nice if they included a sideways keyboard w/ the phone closed when you get on the net.
